摘　　要：今年4月15日,国际互联网上一则信息引人注目:重庆北部新城的江北城2.6平方公里控制性详细规划和城市设计面向全世界招标。这次城市设计招标,目的是使北部新城的一部分——江北城能成为中国中西部面向21世纪的国际化城市。而整个北部新城的建设也开始大规模启动。短短几年间。'Pudong' in West China here refers to the new north downtown section in Chongqing,it has been in- vested generously by Chongqing Municipal Govern- ment,and has attracted constantly domestic and over- seas investments.Like Pudong in Shanghai,it has be- come a focus of attention,The municipal government is determined to build up the new north downtown sec- tion as an area symbolizing modern construction of a new Chongqing.It will become Chongqing's adminstrative center,information center,scientific, technological and cultural center,and communication hub.
