摘　　要：《现代汉语词典》中的四字词语词占极少数,四字固定语占绝大多数;从四字词语和单字词、双字词语和三字词关系及汉语构词角度可以看出是由汉语四字词语的发展形成造成,四字词语处于"词"向"短语"过渡的边缘范畴。We Select four character words and phrases in the fifth edition of ＂Modem Chinese Dictionary＂ as the representative, study the composition, status in modem chinese , then make cognitive interpretation. Statistical analysis shows that four characters words and phrase in terms account for a very small number of terms, four characters words account for the vast majority of the fixed four characters phrase; the relationship between words alone, two-and three-word phrase and phrases. Through cognitive analysis, we think the four-character word of the transition area and four characters words and phrase is on the brink
