摘　　要：在ＡＴＭ网络中用户传输数据之前必须建立一个连接．在多媒体通信连接建立过程中的一个重要问题是如何提供对服务质量（Ｑｏｓ）的参数描述，以及信令实体对这些参数的响应和处理．针对ＡＴＭ局部网络环境下的多媒体通信连接的建立过程予以论述．通过分析不同种类多媒体信息的特征和服务质量Ｑｏｓ的描述参数，提出信令系统所应完成的功能．并对在用户端系统中使用的信令系统应用编程接口（ＡＰＩ）的结构进行了研究．It is necessary to establish a connection in ATM LANs before users transmit data. An important problem during establishing a connection is the descriptions of quality of service(Qos) and the response and processes of signaling entity for these performances. The connection establishment of multimedia communications in ATM local area network was descripted. By analyzing the characteristic of different media and the descriptions of quality of service,the functions of signaling system were proptsed,and the architecture of programming application interface (API) was studied of signaling system used by user terminal system.
