Through shaking flasks experiment, the catalytic effect of the combination of activated carbon, Ag^+ and Fe^2+ on improving the bioleaching efficiency of the low - grade primary copper sulfide ores from Yongping Copper Mine was investigated. The results showed that the addition of the combination of activated carbon, Ag^+ and Fe^2+ could further accelerate the dissolution velocity and rate of copper at the initial stage of the bioleaching, and the leaching effect was better than that achieved when only activated carbon or silver ion was added. The best leaching result could be achieved under a combination of 3.0 g/L activated carbon and 2.0 mg/L silver ion and 8.0 g/L ferrous ion, in this case, the leaching rate of copper reached 83% after 168 h bioleaching. When the combination of 3.0 g/L activated carbon and 2.0 mg/L silver ion was used, the leaching rate of copper reached 80% after 310 h bioleaching. The leaching rate of copper was only 62% and 20% respectively when only 3.0 g/L activated carbon or 2.5 mg/L silver ion was added. It was found that it is more favorable to the bioleaching of copper from low - grade primary copper sulfide ores if the low redox potential is controlled at 550 -640 mV.
