摘　　要：图书馆与读者在法律上具有平等的民事主体地位。自助检索是维护读者的主体地位,保守读者秘密是法律赋予的职责。保守读者秘密对图书馆服务提出了的新要求。The library and the readers have the equal civil status in law. It is endowed by law to keep readers＇ secrets. Self-help search is the new requirement of maintaining readers＇ dominant position and keeping readers＇ secrets for library service.
