Geological sequestration is an effective way to reduce CO2 emission into atmosphere and to prevent global wanning. Practice shows that injecting CO2 into reservoirs to enhance oil recovery is a feasible geo-sequestration method technically and economically. Based on study, this paper introduces the theory and method for potential evaluation of CO2 geo-sequestration. Evaluation work contains geology evaluation, sequestration reservoir screening, EOR method screening and potential evaluation. At present, there are no uniform criteria for CO2 sequestration potential evaluation, but computing methods are all based on material balance. As for the evaluation of CO2 sequestration potential, new screening criteria of CO2 sequestration and EOR should be laid down in combination with diverse development conditions and oil characteristics in domestic oilfields. Evaluation method for CO2 sequestration poten- tial under different EOR processes should be improved so as to adapt to evaluation needs under various conditions and grades. With the criteria and method proposed by experts at home and abroad, this paper performs a potential evaluation for CO2 geo-sequestration and EOR in the old oil area of Shengli Oilfield.
