Synergistic Effect of Silicon-Containing Compounds on Intumescent Flame Retardant Polypropylene

摘  要:采用聚磷酸铵(APP)与季戊四醇(PER)复合膨胀阻燃剂(IFR)阻燃聚丙烯,研究了不同含硅物质——硅胶(SG)、硅酮(GM)以及硅晶(SW)纤维对IFR阻燃PP性能的影响,并通过LOI、UL-94、TGA对材料阻燃性能进行了表征。结果表明,三种物质与IFR都存在一定的协同效应。然而,硅胶与IFR的协同效应最好,在IFR含量为25%时,添加2%的硅胶,材料氧指数由29提高至35,UL-94也提高至V-0级,材料的高温热稳定性也得到了极大提高,并且能够生成结构更加致密的炭层。Polypropylene was flame retarded by intumescent fire retardant of ammonium polyphosphate (APP) and pentaerythritol (PER) compounds, and the synergistic effect of silicon-containing compounds (silicon gel, silicone, silicate whisker) with IFR was studied by using LOI, UL-94 tests and TGA. The results show that all the three silicon-containing compounds show synergistic effect with IFR. However, silicon gel exhibits the optimal synergistic effect due to it can increase the LOI value from 29 to 35, stop the dripping and raise its rating to V-0 at a loading of 2% when IFR content is 25%. The TGA results show that silicon gel can increase the thermal stability of PP/IFR system at high temperature and more residues are remained. The morphology of charred layers demonstrates that the addition of SG can improve the surface compactability.
