摘　　要：本文以后殖民理论对后殖民文学发展阶段的划分为依据,探讨作为美国少数族裔文学重要构成的美国印第安英语小说的发展周期,在后殖民理论框架下分析了印第安小说在各个发展阶段所呈现出的不同特点,阐释了印第安小说从同化、回归传统到与白人文化杂糅的发展趋势。Based on the postcolonial definition of the developmental stages of postcolonial literature, this article explores the developmental tendency of the American Indian novel which constitutes an important component part of American ethnic minority literature. Within the framework of posteolonial theory, this article analyzes the respective characteristic features displayed by the American Indian novel at each of its developmental stages, and expounds its development from assimilation, to return to traditions, and then to hybrid of the indigenous and the Western.
