摘　　要：本文研究著名爱尔兰作家罗迪·多伊尔1986-2007年间三部以母亲为描写对象的重要小说,分析作者如何通过母亲形象从传统缄默到现代独立的嬗变,勾勒出一幅爱尔兰社会的宏观变化图景,并且通过建构当代爱尔兰母亲身份,半继承、半否定了传统的爱尔兰性,为建立当代独立的爱尔兰形象做出贡献。By studying Roddy Doyle＇s three novels on Irish motherhood, the paper demonstrates that the transformation of ＂the silent mother＂ into ＂the independent mother＂ epitomizes the changing panorama of the Irish society, which challenges the stereotypical construction of Irishness. In this case, Doyle makes his own contributions to the image of an independent contemporary Ireland.
