摘 要:多小波是小波理论的扩展,其在信号和图像压缩领域中已经得到了成功的应用。相比单小波而言,具有很多优良的性能,但由于需要先将离散信号矢量化和预滤波后再使用,而预滤波又会给多小波的实现带来问题,故通过设计平衡多小波的技术,解决了上述问题,并将平衡多小波技术与SPIHT图像压缩算法相结合以提高图像的压缩性能。Multiwavelets were of an extension and a new addition to the classical wavelet theory that had proved to be successful in practical applications, such as signal and image compression. In fact, multivawelets possessed several advantages in comparison with scalar wavelets. Nevertheless, multiwavelets required two or more input streams to the mulitwavelet filter bank. This initialization step was called prefiltering, which may create some problems in the implementation of discrete multiwavelet transform. This problem concerned herein was overcomed by introducing the concept of balanced multiwavelets. This balanced multiwavelets technique was made in comparision with the algorithm of SPIHT Codec in image compression so that their compression performance had been greatly improved.
