It was pointed out that the oral care category is a solid and dependable sales engine. Chemical ingredients are being replaced by plant-based ingredients as functional claims for these ingredients increase. Organic, internal growth will be increasingly difficult to develop. Mouthwashes/dental rinses was the most dynamic part of the market, floss is forecast to be the second fastest growing category. The key to sustained growth may be consumer education. Volume sales of oral care are likely to remain solid, but there is likely to be an increase in response to private label products.
