Objective:Hearing screening is able to detect the hearing disorders in the infants in the early stage for prompt intervention, so as to further reduce the widespread influence on hearing impairment to infants. Methods:By the means of TEOAE, newborn hearing screening carries out objective, fast and non - invasive examination on the newborns through otoacoustic emission when they are silent or in natural sleep. This kind of examination usually takes 5 to 10 minutes. Results :There were 1276 infants who have accepted hearing screening under observation. Among the 1276 infants, 486 infants are delivered through birth canal whose passing rate of the initial screening was 93.83% (456/486), while 790 infants are given birth by cesarean section whose passing rate of the initial screening was 85.95% (679/790). Simultaneously, the passing rate of the initial screening of the newborns whose gestational weeks were no less than 37 weeks was 94.97% ( 1151/1212), while the passing rate of the initial screening of those whose gestational weeks are less than 37 weeks was 84.38% (54/64). As for those newborns who suffer pathological icterus, the passing rate was 81.92% (281/343), while for those who do not suffer pathological ictcrus, the passing rate was 93.03 % (868/933). Conclusion : Newborn hearing screening is of great significance to the early diagnosis, early prevention and early treatment to the hearing impairment in the newborns.
