摘　　要：智能电网的开发和建设在美国、中国以及世界其他国家正在积极地推进,而通信作为智能电网建设的一个组成部分,将发挥十分重要的作用。文章介绍了基于互联网协议(IP协议)的会话发起协议(Session Initiation Protocol-SIP)的功能和作用,按照智能电网架构所需要的开放性、标准化和互操作性的要求,SIP协议可以满足智能电网对通信的所有要求,因此,在智能电网通信中,选择SIP协议是一个非常明智之举。The development of smart grid is pushing forward in the United States, China and the rest of the world. As an important part of smart grid construction and development, power communication is going to play an important role. This paper introduces the function and role of SIP （Session Initiation Protocol） based on Internet Protocol （IP）. In accordance with the requirement on openness, standardization and interoperability, SIP protocol can meet the requirements of smart grid communications. Therefore, SIP protocol is the right choice for smart grid communications.
