摘 要:Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) is a new method in linguistic analysis. Usually approached from the angles of linguistics, sociology and psychology, CDA aims to uncover through analyzing linguistic forms, the relations between language and ideology. By applying the specific methods of transitivity, transformation, modality and classification in CDA to a report on Barack Obama in The New York Times--a mainstream media in the United States, this paper aims to reveal the ideology hidden in the report, so as to raise the readers' awareness of perceiving unconscious ideologies in news and help them to have a deeper understanding of news and the language in news.
