天主教会与西欧中世纪文化的复兴

摘　　要：西欧中世纪是在日耳曼人大迁徙中拉开序幕的。但随着日耳曼人大迁徙和西罗马帝国灭亡,西方的古代文化遭到毁灭性摧残,使西欧中世纪初期呈现出教育衰败、文化凋零的黑暗景象。因天主教会组织是从古代社会发展而来,在中世纪又处于精神统治的地位,使其在文化复兴中扮演了重要角色:首先是在一定程度上保存和传播了拉丁文化;其次是翻译和传播了希腊和阿拉伯文著作;再次是兴办教育,推动了大学的兴起。The migration of the Teutons was a prelude to the Middle Ages. The western ancient culture, however, suffered a devastating destruction with the migration of the Teutons and the demise of the Western Roman Empire, which resulted in a decline of education and culture in the the early Middle Ages. Since the Catholic Church developed from the ancient society and owned a predominant status in the spirit of the Middle Ages, it played an important role in cultural renaissance. First, to some extent, it preserved and disseminated the Latin culture. Second, it translated and spreaded the Greek and Arabic works. And then, it established schools, which promoted the rise of the university.
