摘 要:无线ATM是ATM技术和移动通信技术发展的结果。无线ATM研究的任务是,使用无线技术使ATM服务无缝隙扩展到移动设备。在固定ATM网络中,终端对网络的接入点是固定的。在无线网络中,移动用户的接入点在连接建立前是未知的,并且在连接建立后仍有可能发生变化。因此,必须改进现有的ATM标准,使其能支持终端的移动性。本文给出无线ATM中支持终端移动性的一种连接管理过程,其中移动台位置登记和呼叫连接服务过程基于OVERLAY信令,作者在此基础上提出一种新的呼叫连接切换过程,即同时使用切换前所在小区和切换后所要到达的小区完成切换信令,提高了切换成功的可能性。Wireless ATM (or WATM) is a result of development of the ATM technology and the mobile communication technology. The task of wireless ATM is to realize seamless expansion of ATM service to the mobile devices. In a fixed ATM network, the terminals are connected to a network through fixed access point. While in a wireless network, the access point through which a mobile terminal access to the ATM network is unknown before a connection, moreover, the access point may change during the connection. So, it is necessary to enhance the existing ATM protocols to support mobility of terminals. This paper presents a connection management process in a wireless ATM network. The location registration of mobile and the call connection establishment process are based on OVERLAY signalling. The author proposes a handoff process which is accomplished by the previous zone and the current zone. The new process can improve the possibility of successful handoff greatly.
