Objective To research about puncture time, indwelling time, cure situation, nursing, frequency and disposal of syndrome when PICC applied on different position puncture in long & medium vein channels for low weight infants. Methods Foreground research and detail record on the clinic materials on low infants with PICC in NICU form January 2007 to October 2008 were statistical analyzed. Results 20 canulas of PICC were placed in 20 low weight infants respectively to provide vein nutrition, anti - infectious cure and active medicines for blood vessel. The reason of placing PICC canulas was the need for first aid, the average time of containing PICC through axillary vein was 14. 00 d, and 24. 00 d through basilica vein. The frequency of syndrome for different veins had different. Conclusions PICC provides reliable and safe long & medium time vein channels for low weight infants, and decreases the burdens of nursing staff and avoids the ill stimulation of repetitive around vein puncture for infants. The vein lays first choice among vein canulas system.
