摘 要:本文以Ariel的"语言学的、认知的"可及性理论为基础,对英语的指称词语进行认知解释。主要从指称词语的编码原则及可及性等级等方面介绍了Ariel提出的可及性理论,其普遍性和对指称词语可及性等级划分的细致性越来越受到研究者们的推崇。在英语中,高可及性标示语主要由代词来充当,中可及性标示语由指示词语充当,而低可及性标示语主要由专有名词和有定描述语充当。This paper proposes a cognitive interpretation with an analysis of the English referring expressions, based on Ariel's "Linguistic& Cognitive" Accessibility Theory. It introduces the encoding principles of the referring expressions and the scale of accessibility of the Accessibility Theory suggested by Ariel, which becomes more and more popular with the researchers because of its popularity and the detailedness in the accessibility scale of the referring expressions. In English, the function of high accessibility markers is generally performed by pronouns, while the function of intermediate accessibility markers is fulfilled by demonstrative expressions and that of low accessibility markers are fulfilled by proper nouns and definite expressions.
