摘　　要：本文在概述索引与图书内容索引的含义及其关系,以及我国书后索引编制工作徘徊不前现状的基础上,重点论述了图书内容索引在知识交流、科学研究、提高功效等方面的独特功用,在我国推行图书内容索引的时机已经成熟之际,为加快这一工作提出了若干建议。On the basis of the outlining the meaning and their relation of the index and the book content index and analyzing the reasons for the Chinese book content index was hesitating at the crossroads, the article discusses the distinctive function in the knowledge exchange, scientific research, information services, learning and study and so on. And thinks that the time to promote the book con- tent index is ripe, and puts forward a number of proposals for speeding up this work.
