摘 要:通过电子邮件实施人际或机构间请求目前已非常普遍,但请求是威胁面子行为,实施请求对语言适宜性和礼貌策略的要求更高。本研究以中国大学生对美国教授的真实电子邮件为语料,从语篇层面探究跨文化实施请求的礼貌策略和语篇特色,并通过回顾性访谈分析其影响因素。研究发现,大多数请求使用了前提条件询问等规约性间接策略;广泛使用前置的支持性话步;多数请求呈现了典型的归纳语篇组织模式。而情境、媒介、东西文化价值观、第一和第二语言语用知识和能力因素则影响了请求的话语风格和礼貌策略选择。Requesting through e-mail for interpersonal or inter-institutional communication has been very common nowadays. As a face-threatening act in nature, requesting requires sophisticated use of language and higher pragmatic competence on the part of L2 learners. students in their e-mail communication with their American This study explores the requests by 30 Chinese professor. The purpose is to investigate, at a discourse level, how Chinese students make e-mail requests in English to their U. S. professors in terms of politeness. The results indicate that conventional indirectness such as query preparatory was most frequently used ; the pre-request supportive moves were extensively used; and a typical inductive discourse organizational pattern occurred often. A further analysis indicates that immediate situational factors, the e-mail medium, cultural perspectives, the L1 and L2 pragmatic knowledge, and the ability, influenced their choices of discourse and polite strategies. The study hopes to shed light on improving students' English pragmatic ability so as to achieve effective communication.
