历史反思与身份追寻——论《英格兰,英格兰》的主题意蕴

摘　　要：本文对朱利安.巴恩斯的一部重要作品《英格兰,英格兰》进行文本细读,探讨该小说如何呈现女主人公对个人身份的追寻以及在后现代类像世界里英格兰人对民族身份的建构与追寻,认为巴恩斯一方面质疑个人和民族凭籍记忆、历史来确认身份的做法;另一方面又深入透视后现代超真实的类像世界里人们的身份认同危机。Through a close study of Julian Barnes＇ England, England, this pa- per discusses how the female protagonist pursues her personal identity and how English people engage themselves in the construction and pursuit of national identity in the post- modern world of simulacrum. It is argued that Barnes interrogates how both individuals and nations resort to memory and history so as to confirm their identity on the one hand and reveals their identity crisis in an age of universal simulacrum on the other.
