摘　　要：本文认为,对未知事实的挖掘,研究理论的不断更新,这是科学研究的两个基本要素。但是,从科学研究的角度说,对事实的考察和挖掘固然重要,但真正意义上的科学研究必须对考察、挖掘所得的事实和所发现的各种现象作出科学的解释,并进一步从中总结出具有解释力的原则和理论,能用这些原则、理论来解释更多的事实,从而使学科得以不断发展。语法研究也是如此。半个世纪来,新的理论、新的学说、新的分析方法在汉语语法研究中不断涌现,从而不断推进了汉语语法的研究。而不同的理论方法之间常常表现为一种互相补充的关系。因此,文章强调,不能只满足于了解、掌握一种理论,一种方法,要坚持多元论。This paper states that there are two basic tasks in research works：to discover the new facts in unknown world and to evolve the new theory for explaining the new facts. It is no doubt that the first task is very important, but more importantly the second task need to be paid more attention by researchers because it is the real driving force in the histo- ry of science. It is also the case in linguistics. For the past five decades, we have seen a lot of new theories and new methods in the field of research on contemporary Chinese grammar. There is a kind of complementary relation among the various theories. The author emphasizes that it is not enough for research work if just only one kind of method or theory is known well. The pluralism of theories and methods should be taken into account more seriously by scholars.
