摘 要:空间指示及其参照点在人类认知事物的过程中具有十分重要的意义。本文着重探讨参照点的选择在这一过程中的作用。文章借助Langacker的参照点构造理论,从方向参照点的确定、位置参照点的选择和方位词的选用等几个方面,讨论英语中空间方位参照的认知过程。通过具体的实例分析,我们发现,在认知过程中,人们会选择不同的参照点或观察点对相同的事物进行观察和认知,从而造成人们对事物认知结构的不同,并导致这一过程中参照点空间指示的模糊性。文章最后提出解决这一问题的方案:在认知事物的过程中,人们可以利用空间指示的手势用法、象征用法和回指用法,并结合具体的语境,来减少甚至消除空间指示的模糊性。Space deixis and its reference points play an important role in the course of human beings' cognition. This paper explores the im- portant roles played by the choice of reference points in such a process. With reference to Langacker' s Reference-Point Construction, this paper attempts to analyze the cognitive process from different perspectives, such as the selection of directional reference points, the selection of positional reference points and the choice of space deixis. Examples in this paper reveal that, in the course of people' s cognition, differing selections of reference points or observation points in cognizing the same thing may, in each instance, lead to differences in the cognitive structure arising from the altered perspective, hence the fuzziness of space indication in this course. A tentative solution is put forward at the end of the paper: in the cognitive course, gestural use, symbolic use and anaphoric use of space deixis, together with the specific context, may be combined to decrease or even eliminate the fuzziness in space deixis.
