Investigation on infections of NDV, IBV and AIV(H9) was performed by established RT-PCR technique. 1 837 suspicious samples collected from large-scale chicken farms in Shandong province (Weifang, Qingdao and Yantai) were detected during 2008.01 to 2009.06. The results showed that the positive rates of these three viruses was up to 65.76% totally in three districts and the positive rates of NDV, IBV and AIV(H9) were 12.36%, 12.30% and 41.10%, respectively. The positive rates of NDV(13.45%), IBV(17.37 %)and AIV(H9)(44.08%) were all highest in Qingdao. All of the positive rates of these three viruses were higher during 2008.07 to 2008.12 than during 2008.01 to 2008.06, especially for AIV(Hg). Chickens co-infected with dual and triple viruses accounted for 11.00% from the detected samples. The dual infection of IBV+AIV(H9) and NDV+AIV(H9) were most serious in all co-infectioned samples. The results demonstrated that NDV, IBV and AIV(Hg) were very prevalent in the commercial chickens in Jiaodong area. The investigation can offer the scientific evidence to prevent and control these diseases in Shandong province.
