摘　　要：综述了具有降低胆固醇作用的植物及其活性成分、皂甙的生物学功能及其降低胆固醇的作用机理等方面研究进展,对今后的研究提出了展望。Saponins have the effect of reducing the cholesterol level in human body. This article summarized the research progress in the plants with cholesterol - reducing effect and their active components, the physiological functions of plant saponins and their cholesterol - reducing mechanism. It is suggested that the application of modern molecular biotechnology in saponins function research is necessary to find out the molecular mechanism of cholesterol - reducing effect of plant saponins.
