Objective:To study the characteristics of hematuria associated with benign prostatic hyperplasia examined with transrectal color doppler ultrasound. Methods:53 patients who were diagnosed as benign prostatic hyperplasia were observed prostatic urethral artery branch with transrectal ultrasound. The measured parameters of the velocity of maximum (Vmax) and minimum (Vmax), resistance index (RI) were analyzed in statistics. Results: The parameter of the urethral artery of prostate: the mean of Vmax was respectively (23.07± 3.71)cm/s, (17.12 ±4.25)cm/s (P=0.00), Vmin were respectively (4.75±3.26) cm/s, (5.07±2.54) cm/s(P=0.35) and RI was respectively (0.79±0. 035), (0.67±0. 041)(P=0.00)(P〈 0.05). Conclusions:Transrectal color Doppler ultrasound can show the prostatic urethral artery branch. The patients with prostatic hyperplasia--related hematuri a, blood flow signals of prostate glands increased, V speeded up, blood supply increased, the vascular resistance index increased. The velocity of maximum and RI examined could be used as the index for the prognostication of hematuria associated with benign prostatic hyperplasia.
