Allelochemicals extracted from the Cunninghamia lanceolata stump after having been decomposed for six months in solutions with different concentrations of NH4Cl and NaNO3 , and bioassary of C. lanceolata seed germination test was conducted. The results showed that the weak-polar allelochemicals extracted from the decomposed C. lanceolata stump had positive effects on the embryo root lengthening, whereas they had inhibiting effects on the absolute germination rate, absolute germination power, embryo axis lengthening, fresh weight and dry weight increment. The polar allelochemicals extracted from the decomposed C. lanceolata stump had positive effects on the absolute germination rate, average embryo root lengthening and dry weight increment, whereas they had inhibiting effects on absolute germination power, embryo axis lengthening and fresh weight increment. Among the five treat- ments, allelochemicals extracted from the decomposed C. lanceolata stump with NH4Cl added had stronger positive effects on germination of C. lanceolata seeds than that of by adding NaNO3, and the allelochemicals extracted from the decomposed C. lanceolata stump with adding 100 g NH4Cl had the most strong positive effects.
