摘　　要：随着森林的减少，环境的退化，可持续发展理论已成为全球环境发展的战略思想，而要实现环境的可持续发展，只有通过广大群众的积极参与，特别是乡村农民的参与．社会林业正是通过动员广大农民参与各种林业活动，使农民从中受益，以至带动广大乡村经济的发展，进而达到带动整个环境（包括自然，社会，经济）的可持续发展．可持续发展是社会林业的目标，社会林业是实现这一目标的载体．As forest dedline and enviroment degradation,the theory of sustainable develppement has become the strategy for global environment development.To realize sustainable development for the environment,only participatory approaches can be adopted by a large number of the masses,especially,by rural farmers.In fact,social forestry just mobilizes extensives farmers′ participating all kinds of forestry activities that will benefit them.However,while large-scale rural economy goes forward,the overall environment including nature,society and economy will be sustainably developed.Therefore,sustainable develppment is the objictive of social forestry,and at the same time ,socila forestry is the carrier for realizing this objective of sustainable development. \ \
