摘　　要：词汇是语言中最活跃、最敏感的因素,社会的变化和发展必然使之发展。由于新事物、新观念、新思想、新问题的出现而注入的词汇称为新词。英语作为世界上使用最广泛的语言,有大量的新词涌入。这些新词对于英语学习者来说是一个很大的挑战。因此,本文探究了英语新词的主要来源,以此来激发英语学习者的兴趣,扩大词汇量,更加熟练地运用英语。Vocabulary is the most active and sensitive component of a language,consequently,the changes and development of the society lead to the development of the vocabulary.Neologisms refer to the words and expressions created to express new things,new concepts,new ideas and new problems.As English is the most widely-used language,a great number of neologisms are pouring into it.These neologisms are a great challenge to those who learn English as a foreign language.This thesis probes into the main sources of the English neologisms,in the hope that it can help English learners develop interest in English,enlarge the vocabulary and use English more proficiently.
