摘　　要：二战期间,罗斯福总统扩大联邦调查局的权限,授权联邦调查局负责整个西半球的情报工作。联邦调查局局长埃德加·胡佛为此成立了特别情报处(Special Intelligence Service),在南美地区开展情报活动,取得了许多成绩。During the Second World War, President Franklin D. Roosevelt expanded FBI＇s funetion greatly and officially vested the FBI with responsibility for foreign-intelligence work in the Western Hemisphere. Thereafter FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover established the FBI Special Intelligence Service responsible for foreign intelligence work in South America. The FBI Special Intelligence Service achieved success greatly.
