The paradoxes in the description of love in revolutionary literature are found in the following aspects. On the one hand, revolution, as a grand narrative and collective logic, permeates in and controls virtually every private space of the individuals. On the other hand, love, a primary force originated from life instincts, possesses the capacity to break through suppression and to topple revolution, which in a way, brings about some irony and counteraction to revolution. The mason for such paradoxes lies in the coexistence and dialogues between the "revolutionary" discourse of the newly - arisen Left Wing and the humane discourse of "May Fourth Movement". It is due to the very existence of such dialogues and tension that revolutionary literature enjoys its unique artistic charms.
