摘　　要：短学期制是上海大学在钱伟长校长的领导下坚持推行的独特的教学管理制度。在国外,短学期制有近百年的历史,是在特殊的历史条件下产生的。实施短学期制有利于教师精简教学内容,提高教学效率,有利于培养学生的自学能力,还能为教师提供充裕的科研时间。推行短学期制过程中存在的问题需要通过提高教师素质、招生管理制度改革等措施解决。Short semester system is a special teaching management system adopted at Shanghai university under the leadership of President Qian Weichang. In foreign countries,short semester system,the product of a particular historical background,has had a history of about one hundred years. Short term system would press teachers to condense teaching content,improve teaching efficiency and help to cultivate students' self-learning ability,too. Besides,teachers could have more sufficient time to do research under this system. Nevertheless,there would still be certain problems in the adoption of short semester system,which should be resolved by improving the quality of teachers and reforming college enrollment system.
