College Students' Perceptions of the Actual and Ideal EFL Teacher Profiles——An Empirical Study on EFL Teacher Interpersonal Behaviors Based on QTI

摘  要:外语教师人际行为对教学效果具有影响力,为了改善外语教师的课堂人际行为,提高外语教学效果提供了参考,本研究尝试对大学生心中现实和理想外语教师之间的人际行为差异展开研究。本文以QTI(教师互动行为问卷)为问卷工具,以SPSS11.0软件为分析工具,以160名大学本科生为样本,研究学生心中现实和理想的外语教师行为的差异,学生最为认可的教师形象以及外语(英语)教师的人际行为特征和学生外语(英语)成绩之间的关系等三个主要问题。研究发现:与现实中的教师相比,学生对理想外语教师的领导能力、理解能力、友善性和给予学生自由度等人际行为特征期待较高;容忍-权威型教师是中国大学生心目中最为认可的教师形象;除不稳定特征外,外语教师的其他人际行为特征与学生学业成就相关不大。EFL teachers' interpersonal behaviours can affect teaching efficiency,to offer reference for the EFL teachers to improve the interpersonal behaviours and teaching efficiency this paper tentatively explores the discrepancy between the actual and ideal EFL teacher interpersonal behaviours in the Chinese college students' perceptions.For this purpose:employing 160 undergraduate students as a sample,the SPSS 11.0 software as the analyzing tool,and QTI(the Questionnaire on Teacher Interaction)as the questionnaire,this paper mainly does research on the following 3 problems:the discrepancy between the actual and ideal EFL teachers' interpersonal behaviours in the college students' perceptions,the difference between the students' perceptions of actual and ideal EFL teacher profiles,and the relationship between EFL(English as a Foreign Language)teachers' interpersonal behaviours and students' English academic achievement.The following findings are obtained:college students expect more leadership,understanding,friendship,student freedom of the ideal college EFL teacher than of the actual ones,the tolerant-authoritative profile is the most received EFL teacher profile in Chinese college students' perceptions,except EFL teachers' uncertainty,the other interpersonal behaviors seem not correlated with students' academic achievement.
