摘　　要：以武汉市新洲县为例，综合应用系统工程和GIS技术，以系统观点为指导，以GIS为分析手段，详细地提出了一种面向城镇发展布局优化决策的研究方法，该方法通过定性、定量与定位的分析相结合，不仅较科学、合理地找到了城镇发展的最优布局，且得出了一些具有普遍指导意义的新思路和方法。Taking Xinzhou county, Wuhan Municipality as a case study, the viewPOint Of system and GIS tool are employed. The methedology of optimal layout of town development is presented in detail by integrating system engineering and GIS techniques. The methodology .uld not only be effective to assist decision making of OPtimal layout, but also lead to some new approaches to town develOPment and Urbanization research.
