深层生态学文化视域中的《榆树下的欲望》

摘　　要：《榆树下的欲望》是奥尼尔的一部伟大的现实主义杰作。这个罪恶的欲望故事发生在人与自然和谐共处生态背景下的一个非常美丽的田庄里。以和谐为背景,更能聚焦和彰显欲望的罪恶。然而人与自然的和谐只能是暂时的,人类中心主义的沙文文化和单纯推进的物质欲望文化必将破坏人与自然的和谐,必将改变人与自然的平衡,将人推向一条向自然、向人的生命本身无限索取的不归之路。本文从文视角出发,以深层生态文化批评为理论指导,解读文本《榆树下的欲望》。Desire Under the Elms by American playwright Eugene O’Neill is a great work of realism. It is a story about evil desires, however, the story happened in a harmonious background — a beautiful farm where human beings and nature get along well. Harmony as the background of the story significantly makes the evil desires focused and magnified. But the harmony and balance between man and nature can only be temporal because it will be definitely destroyed by the anthropocentrism and the culture of materialistic desire, which push human beings toward a no-return road to extort limitlessly from both nature and human lives. Under the guidance of cultural criticism of deep ecology, this paper explores the ecological significance of the play.
