摘　　要：本文以英国文艺复兴时期一种新兴文类＂小史诗＂为研究对象,着重探索了古罗马诗人奥维德的《变形记》对小史诗的影响,追溯了奥维德在16世纪英国文坛的接受史,试图论证这一新诗体在社会世俗化趋势中的表现。This article attempts to trace the introduction of Ovid into Renaissance English literature and his impact on the emerging and subversive genre epyllion as practiced by young writers.The author examines the historical context in which Ovid was translated into English and adapted for educational purposes and his subsequent appropriation by fashionable writers.and concludes that epyllion as a literary genre is the typical humanist innovation and the fullest expression of human desire sublimated to aesthetic experience.
