摘　　要：英国当代剧作家斯多帕德近作《乌托邦彼岸》中,巴枯宁和赫尔岑两个的家庭生活连接起19世纪中期俄国知识阶层的思想、精神追求和行动。剧中,不同历史人物的哲学思想和政治理想仅仅戏剧化地并置,而不能戏剧化地得到证实,尽管这些思想是源于自由、解放和进步等等自明的概念,影响了一个多世纪的理论和思想,但斯多帕德并没有走上虚无主义的道路,而是肯定了人类探索的合理性。这一点与利奥塔思想在一定程度上的不谋而合的同时又存在着本质上的差异性。The Coast of Utopia written by Tom Stoppard,a contemporary British dramatist,unfolds the ideas and actions of the Russian intellectuals during the middle period of the 19th century,which is linked by the family lives of Bakunin and Herzen.The philosophical ideas and political ideals of different historical persons,which are rooted in such concepts as freedom,liberation and progress which are considered to be truth for granted are just put together,which have not been proved dramatically.The paper tries to illustrate both the somewhat agreement and differences between the theme of the play and Lyotard＇s ideas through the analysis of choice of materials,the structure and the developments of the characters.
