摘　　要：近年来Internet业务提供者(ISP)利用Internet构建提供IP业务的虚拟专用网(VPN),可使企业节省设备投资,减少长途话费,降低运行费,提高劳动生产率,而且能够提供多业务平台和更好的连接性.虚拟专用网是利用公众通信网的资源,为客户提供专用网能力的一种技术,最早的虚拟专用网是在电话网上实现的.随着Internet技术的发展,许多电信公司和In-ternet业务提供者已经开始将虚拟专用网技术应用到Internet中,以解决在Internet快速发展的同时出现的安全性和使公众网过负荷等方面的问题.Infometics Research公司预言,从现在起到2001年,Internet虚拟专用网市场每年至少增长一倍;到2001年,这个市场将达到120亿美元.在1998年年中,92%的大型Internet业务提供者和60%的中小型Internet业务提供者都提供Internet虚拟专用网业务.Internet虚拟专用网已被美国《电信》杂志列为1998年电信行业十大热门技术之一,它的应用正引起诸多领域人士的关注.Virtual Private Network is a kind of technology that uses public communication network resources to provide the users with private network capabilities. VPN is firstly realized in telephone network. With the development of Internet technologies, many telecom corporations and Internet service providers start to use VPN technology in their Internet to solve the security problem and the over-load problem of the public networks. It is predicted that Internet VPN will enjoy great progress in the future and people from many fields are paying close attention to the development of its applications .
