摘　　要：《中国民族志》出版于1904年,是一部系统研究历史上各民族之间关系的民族史著作,在书中,刘师培探讨了什么是"民族","民族"是怎样形成的,并以汉族作为全书的主线,把汉族与各民族之间所发生的关系作了全面的研究和概述,并提出了较早的民族史分期方法。因此,刘师培也就成为中国民族史研究的重要开拓者之一。This article researched,Liu Shi-pei has published The Chinese Ethnography in 1904.This book uses chapter body to discuss what is the ＂nationality＂,how the nationality formed,how many nationalities China have and what are the relationships between them.The Chinese Ethnography is the first national history monograph in the true sense;it has made the important contributions to the construction of the ethnic subject.It also has had the significant influence to afterward ethnic history research.Therefore,Liu Shi-pei becomes one of the most important pioneers in the Chinese ethnic history research.
