Objective To investigate the relationship between blood glucose control and the change of serum C - reactive protein (CRP) in patients with NIDDM. Methods 90 newly onset NIDDM patients in our hospital were chosen to be control group and 90 health peoples were assigned to be contrast group matched by gender, age and body weight. The body height, body weight, fasting plasma glucose (FPG), fasting insulin (Fins), total cholesterol (TC), triglycefide (TG), high density lipoprotein (HDL), low density lipoprotein (LDL), glycosylated hemoglobin (HbAlc), and C -reactive protein (CRP) were detected. Resttlts The level of CRP in the control group was sig- nificantly higher than that in the contrast group pretherapy. There was no noticeable difference in CRP level between two groups post - treatment. The level of CRP in NIDDM patients was positive correlated with blood glucose. Conclu- sion The nosogenesis of NIDDM may be related to the chronic inflammatory reaction with high serum CRP level. We should pay close attention to the change of serum CRP level in patients with NIDDM during the treatment, and the early application of insulin may be helpful to reduce inflammatory reaction and delay the course of NIDDM.
