摘　　要：《中外新报》是鸦片战争后出现的第二份传教士中文报刊,也是浙江的第一份近代报刊。由于该刊在中国大陆已经失传,在国外也只有残本,因而对它的研究远逊于同时期的《遐迩贯珍》与《六合丛谈》,报史学界在《中外新报》的创刊日期、停刊日期、主办者、刊期等方面长期说法不一,对该刊的内容也基本没有研究。对这些问题进行阐析,还原《中外新报》的本来面目,有助于改变研究滞后的状况。Chinese and Foreign Gazette is the second Chinese periodical by missionaries appearing after the Opium War,which is also the first contemporary one in Zhejiang.This periodical has not been handed down in China's Mainland,and even abroad only versions with parts missing can be found.As a result,the research on it has not been as much as that on Chinese Serial and Shanghai Serial(two periodicals of the same age)and even worse,some different arguments in such aspects as its dates of being founded and stopped,its organizers and its total issues have occurred in the press circle for a long time.Besides,few have been studied on its content.Therefore,elaboration on and account for such problems as well as description of its true nature can contribute to changing the present status of research lagged behind on it.
