摘 要:随着Intranet的兴起、企业数据存取模式的变化以及网络管理的需要,以往衡量子网间或VLAN间通信量的80/20规则已被打破。路由器的低性能和高延迟使其成为子网间通信的瓶颈;传统的交换机虽然具有线速传送的能力,但由于不具备路由功能而使其不能处理子网间的通信。因此,集中路由器和交换机二者优势的第三层交换机应运而生。本文将对这一领先技术作较为透彻的分析,并对其性能和其他相关问题给予必要的说明。With the development of intranet and the variation of data accessing mode in the enterprises as well as the requirements of network management, the traditional 80/20 rule is broken which estimates the amount of information transfered among subnets or VLANs. Low performance and high latency of router makes the router become the bottleneck in data transmission among subnets. On the other hand,without routing capability,normal switch can't handle communications between subnets though it can transmit data at wire speed. Thus, the layer - 3 switch that integrates the advantages of router and switch conies into being. This paper presents a penetrating analysis of this leading technology. Its performances and other relative problems are also illustrated.
