摘 要:目前多核架构已成为处理器的主流设计并成为各种多媒体应用的主流处理平台,而核间通信的效率是影响多核处理器性能的重要因素之一。提出了一种针对多媒体应用程序的核间通信的优化方法。该方法利用此类应用程序数据读取的规律性,通过在多核处理器上添加通信队列,实现只读数据的快速传递,从而提高多媒体应用程序的并行执行效率。实验表明使用通信队列对各种多媒体核心算法的性能都有普遍提高。同时,该方法具有良好的扩展性,当内核数目增加,通信队列所带来的好处也更加明显。In recent years, multi-core architectures have been the mainstream design of the processors as well as the mainstream processing platform of various multimedia applications. The efficiency of inter-core communication becomes one of the most critical factors for the perform- ance of multi-core processor. In this paper, we present an optimization approach for inter-core communication in light of multimedia application programs. This approach utilises the regularity of data loading of the application programs of these kinds, by augmenting communication queue on multicore processor to achieve the fast transfer of read-only data, so as to improve the parallel executing efficiency of multimedia applica- tions. Experiments show that to use communication queue makes universal improvement on the performances of various core algorithms of multimedia. Meanwhile, the approach has favourable scalability, especially in the future when the number of the cores increase, the benefit of communication queue will become more and more remarkable.
