摘　　要：当前图书馆界对4--字段功能的认识还存在着严重分歧,这也直接导致了与连接字段有关的编目数据出现了混乱。4--字段并不具有生成题名检索点的功能,其真实的功能只有两个:实现不同记录之间的连接、生成题名附注。There is still serious difference about the function of 4- field in the library field. The difference leads to mistakes in catalogue data which connects with 4- field. 4- field can＇ t generate title retrieval point, and it has two functions： connecting different records, and generating title annotations.
