摘　　要：空间作为小说景观和场景的建构技巧,是现代主义小说家揭示主题的重要艺术手段之一。英国现代主义小说家在空间建构中融入了宗教、身份、权力等要素,使其成为一种蕴含多维社会文化要素的指涉系统。英国现代主义小说的空间解读,以当代空间批评理论为基础,旨在阐释英国现代主义小说所描述的空间中所蕴含的社会文化特征,还原现代主义小说家的空间建构过程,探究空间在主题阐释中的意义,为英国小说研究提供一个新的研究视角。Space as the technique to construct scenes and landscapes in novels, is an important device of modernist novelists to reveal their themes. The English modernist novelists have incorporated religion, identity and power into their spatial construction, and space thus becomes a referential system of various social-cultural properties. Based upon Spatial Criticism, this paper gives a spatial reading of English modernist novels and aims to expound the social and cultural characteristics in the space of the novels, to reveal the process of spatial construction, and to explore the thematic meaning of the space, thus providing a new perspective in English novel studies.
