摘　　要：异步传输模式（ＡＴＭ）将成为支持未来宽带多媒体通信的网络技术。介绍了ＡＴＭ协议的基本概念，包括ＡＴＭ参考模型、参考模型中适应层、ＡＴＭ层和物理层的功能及作用。Asynchronous Transfer Mode(ATM) has emerged as the most promising technology in supporting the future broadband multimedia communication services. In this article,a brief overview on the ATM protocol reference model is presented. The functions and effects of the adaptation layer,the ATM layer and the physical layer are introduced .
