摘　　要：简·亚当斯是美国进步主义运动时期最杰出的女性,其宗教观的发展和变化体现了进步主义运动时期中产阶级白人妇女与宗教之间复杂而微妙的关系,具有鲜明的代表性。在简.亚当斯看来,女性参与社会改良完全符合家庭的利益。而要在新的历史条件下维护宗教精神,就必须突破宗教机构和教条的局限。简.亚当斯与宗教的关系体现了一种以实用主义哲学为本的宗教观。As the most distinguished woman in the Progressive Era in America,the transformation of Jane Addams' religious outlook embodied the complex and subtle relationship between religion and middle-class white women in the era.Jane Addams' ambivalent attitude toward religion is derived both from her personal experience and the social environment of the time.In her view,it was in the interest of their families for women to participate in social reform.Furthermore,it is imperative to break through limitations of religious institutions and dogmas if the religious spirit is to be preserved in the new historical conditions.Jane Addams' relationship to religion illustrates a religious outlook based on pragmatism.
