摘　　要：《农夫皮尔斯》是英国14世纪的一首长篇宗教议论诗,主要故事情节讲述为一个原本向善的威尔如何历经波折,终于找到大善的过程,诗人一步一步向读者展示了该诗的主题:选择基督形象;烘托质朴主题;何人需要拯救灵魂;借农夫皮尔斯这一人物的言行例示了真正的基督徒应当怎样拯救个人的灵魂。Piers Plowman is a long poem involving the discussion of religious belief.This article makes a brief introduction to the main plot of Piers Plowman—the story of how Will,a man who is kind by nature and finally finds the best moral principles after many frustrations—so as to provide the necessary information for the reader who has not read it before.Secondly,it makes a comparatively elaborate discussion of how the poet exhibits the theme of this poem to the reader：analyses of the chosen Christ image and the foil to the theme of simplicity,of what kind of man needs to save his/her soul,and of how a true Christian may save his/her soul with the example of the words and deeds of the protagonist Piers Plowman.
