The living environment of the middle-class family in last century' s early 80' s, which is depicted by American writer, Don DeLillo, in White Noise, is in an imbalanced state. The writer mainly focuses on the man-made environment with little description of the natural scenery, which indicates the marginality of nature. In addition, saturated with metaphors and the displacement of the signifier and the signified, the text suggests a culturally constructed environment in postmodern society, which represents the encroachment of nature by culture and the detachment of humans from nature. In this way, postmodern civilization has altered nature, with people living in a culturally constructed environment.
