The objective of this experiment was to investigate the effect of metabolic energy levels on the efficiency of weight gain and the fat deposit of 6-10 week-old Yangzhou Geese.A total of 200 healthy Yangzhou geese(with similar weight),aged 35 days, were randomly divided into 4 groups. They were fed on diets with different energy levels(10.11,11.19,12.37,and 13.45 MJ/kg),and 35-day feed trail was conducted in the Experimental Farm of Yangzhou University. The results showed that the percentage of abdominal fat,and the fat percent of muscle were significantly affected by energy levels, and they were all increased with the inereasing of energy level in diets.Daily feed intake was tend to be decreased with the increasing of metabolic energy level in diet(P 0.05);while the intake ME per day(MJ/d) were still increased with the increasing of energy level.Daily gain was the highest in the 3rd group, significantly higher than that of the 1st group.Similarly, the ratio of weight gain to ME intake was also the highest in the 3rd group, and showing an Sshaped curve according to metabolic energy level. In conclusion, the optional ME was 12.37 MJ/kg,for the highest efficiency of weight gain and comparatively lower fat deposit,in Yangzhou Geese during 6-10 week age.
